## Two-Step Verification

With two-step verification or two-factor authentication (2FA), you can add an extra layer of security to your account in case your password is stolen.

In practice, to log in you will need to:

1. Enter username and password
2. Confirm your identity with a second verification code

This code can be received:

* via email
* via temporary OTP (One Time Password) code through an app

The authentication flow requires only one step when:

1. You don't have any second authentication factor (2FA)
2. You have one or more 2FA, but two-step verification is disabled
3. You log in via [passkey](#passkey).

The authentication flow requires two steps when:

1. The **acr_values** parameter contains a value greater than 1
2. You have one or more second authentication factors and two-step verification is enabled.

## Enable Two-Step Verification

1. Access the Security section.
2. In the **Two-step Verification** section, check if the second authentication factor is already enabled ("Two-step verification is enabled") or click **ENABLE**.

## Passkey

If you add a passkey to your profile, the authentication factors currently present in your account will not be modified or removed.

If two-step verification is active for your account, the passkey bypasses the second authentication step because it verifies that the device is your property.

You can use passkeys as a simple and secure alternative to passwords.

To add a passkey:

1. Access the Security section.
2. In the **Passwordless** section, click **ADD PASSKEY**.
3. Follow the on-screen steps.

To remove a passkey:
