# Introduction Pages are updated to version 2.0.405 of Namirial Sign This guide describes the main features of the digital signature software **Namirial Sign**. In particular, it aims to support the user in performing the following operations: - Applying digital signatures in .P7M format; - Applying digital signatures in .PDF format; - Applying digital signatures in .XML format; - Applying digital signatures in .ASIC format; - Applying timestamps; - Verifying digital signatures in .P7M format; - Verifying digital signatures in .PDF format; - Verifying digital signatures in .XML format; - Verifying digital signatures in .ASIC format; - Verifying timestamps; - Encrypting and decrypting files (*.p7e, *.eCrypto*); - Archiving files on **Namirial Archive**; - Managing PIN and PUK of the cryptographic device (smart card or USB token); - Managing timestamps; - Managing graphic signatures. ## Terminology - **CAdES**: "P7M cryptographic envelope" – a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, consisting of a signed envelope containing the original file; - **PAdES**: a signature format selectable only when the document to be signed is a PDF (even when signing multiple documents, this format will be available only if all selected documents are exclusively PDF files); - **XAdES**: a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, which produces an XML file; - **ASiC**: a signature format that can always be selected, recently introduced; - **Invisible signature**: the PDF is signed without adding any "graphic" detail to the document; - **Graphic signature**: it is possible to select the position of the signature and optionally add an image.
