# Introduction

Pages are updated to version 2.2.1 of Namirial Sign

This guide describes the main features of the digital signature software **Namirial Sign**. In particular, it aims to support the user in performing the following operations:

- Applying digital signatures in .P7M format;
- Applying digital signatures in .PDF format;
- Applying digital signatures in .XML format;
- Applying timestamps;
- Verifying digital signatures in .P7M format;
- Verifying digital signatures in .PDF format;
- Verifying digital signatures in .XML format;
- Verifying timestamps;
- Managing PIN and PUK of the cryptographic device (DigitalDNA key);
- Managing timestamps;
- Managing graphic signatures.


## Terminology

- **CAdES**: "P7M cryptographic envelope" - a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, consisting of a signed envelope containing the original file;
- **PAdES**: a signature format selectable only when the document to be signed is a PDF (even when signing multiple documents, this format will be available only if all selected documents are exclusively PDF files);
- **XAdES**: a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, which produces an XML file;
- **Invisible signature**: the PDF is signed without adding any "graphic" detail to the document;
- **Graphic signature**: it is possible to select the position of the signature and optionally add an image.
