The Gateway is an API-based service that shields Relying Parties from the complexity of protocols, standards, and interoperability requirements, providing a unified interface to connect with all EUDI Wallets.
Through a single, cohesive API layer, the Wallet Gateway makes it simple to interact with any EUDI Wallet across all 27 EU Member States. It removes the burden of handling multiple standards, cryptographic formats, and protocol flows by exposing a consistent integration surface and offering:
- Harmonization of heterogeneous credential formats, ensuring consistent interpretation and processing of identity data. This enables seamless support for workflows such as multi-format credential management, automated KYC/AML checks, and Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).
- Continuous alignment with evolving European and international standards, including protocol updates, security requirements, and regulatory changes. This built-in compliance layer eliminates the need for Relying Parties to track and maintain regulatory or technical updates.
- Integration with QTSP-grade infrastructure for issuing credentials (e.g., professional qualifications, academic certificates, travel documents) and for supporting legally valid transactions. This ensures the authenticity, integrity, and trustworthiness of credentials throughout both issuance and presentation phases.
