Terminology

  • CAdES: "P7M cryptographic envelope" – a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, consisting of a signed envelope containing the original file;
  • PAdES: a signature format selectable only when the document to be signed is a PDF (even when signing multiple documents, this format will be available only if all selected documents are exclusively PDF files);
  • XAdES: a signature format that can always be selected, regardless of the type of document to be signed, which produces an XML file;
  • ASiC: a signature format that can always be selected, recently introduced;
  • Invisible signature: the PDF is signed without adding any "graphic" detail to the document;
  • Graphic signature: it is possible to select the position of the signature and optionally add an image.
